There are several ways to dispose of your waste, but we all know not all of them help the environment. Practising an eco-friendly lifestyle means to be mindful of your waste. It’s important to know how to dispose of your waste in the eco-friendliest way possible and reduce your environmental footprint. Here are three ways to do just that!

1. Get that compost going

While you can always use the bin to dispose of your food waste – it is much more environmentally friendly (and not to mention satisfying!) to start a compost bin. You can put all your food scraps and tea bags in your compost bin, and when full you can use it to fertilize your garden and make your plants thrive. If you want to take it one step further, start a worm farm!

2. Bulk waste removal is an option

If you are doing something on a larger scale like moving out or renovating your home, think about bulk waste removal. Both these activities can be very harmful to the environment as most people send their disused items or trash directly to landfill – with no thought of recycling. You can rent a dumpster from a company that offers recycling, or consider sorting your items into similar material and arranging for them to be recycled!

3. Reuse!

Simply reusing items you already have will have a large impact on your waste production. Some examples include:

  • Plastic bags – take your own to the shops rather than getting new ones each time

  • Getting a reusable cup for your morning caffeine hit

  • Investing in a long term, reusable water bottle

  • Washing out an empty Tupperware container or pasta jar and using it to store food
